What is an energy storage system?

An energy storage system is charged from the grid or by on-site generation to be used at a later time to take advantage of price diferentials. Energy storage is used instead of upgrading the transmission network infrastructure. The storage system provides the grid with the necessary output to ensure the voltage level on the network remains steady.

Why does Iraq have a gas deficit?

As oil production has soared, so has the amount of associated gas produced alongside. However the capacity to capture and process this gas has not kept pace. The inability to utilise its gas riches means that the country's gas deficit has grown, and Iraq now relies on imports from Iran to meet increasing demand.
